Small Wedding? 4 Great Planning Tips!

small weddingSo you’ve decided to have a small wedding? Great!

A small, intimate affair sounds like the perfect wedding. A wedding where you’ll be able to mingle, talk to all of your guests and really share your special day with the most special people in your life!

It’s safe to say I’m a huge fan of small weddings, and in hopes of helping you plan your very special day, here are four tips for planning your own very special small wedding,

  1. Set a budget

For any wedding, regardless of size, it’s always important to set the budget from the get-go.

This will assist you in deciding about the different aspects of your wedding, helping you really pick and choose “must-haves” and “would-be-nice” details.

  1. Choose a theme (or color scheme)

With a small wedding, think of how fun it would be to have a themed wedding! If themed weddings aren’t your thing, pick a color scheme. With a smaller affair, you’ll likely be able to do with more types of flowers and different colors – depending on your budget of course!

Some small wedding themes that are popular these days are country and rustic themes, beach themes and even library and starry night themes.

  1. Set your guest list

If you want to keep your wedding small, set your guest list early on and stick to it! Decide how many people you want at your wedding – with your wedding party included. This will not only help you stay within your budget, but it’ll keep your wedding just as you planned – small and intimate!

  1. Don’t be afraid to get creative with your cake and desserts

With a smaller wedding you can really focus on the details, including your cake and/or other desserts. Try something different than the traditional wedding cake. If you love cupcakes, get cupcakes to match your theme. Maybe you’re a cookie cake kind of person, so go for it: get a cookie cake wedding cake. How cool would that be???

My point here is: try something you might not have at a bigger wedding. Your guests will surely appreciate your efforts.
