Writing your Vows Right

Writing Your Vows

Writing Your Vows

Most couples who write their own vows do it WRONG. Each bride and groom wants to make their wedding ceremony unique, something special that isn’t what everyone else is doing. So they decide to write their own vows. As the officiant at their marriage, I see many beautiful tributes the bride writes to the groom and that the groom writes to the bride. They mention the joy, the love, the dreams and the happiness they feel when they are with their beloved. I am so impressed with each one I read. BUT the wedding ceremony is about becoming a HUSBAND and a WIFE. The vows must use these words somewhere. “I, Joe, take you as my wife, I, Mary, promise to share my life with you, Joe, as my husband. So when it comes to writing your vows, follow a ministers advice and begin with a promise that talks about the commitment you have to your beloved as his or her as a wife or a husband.
